Very quickly all the other members of the herd will come over to check out the new arrival. Some mums become a bit worried as their newly arrived offspring disappears into a crowd of admiring alpacas but there is rarely a problem. Older cria can be a bit rough if they try to play with the new baby and this needs to be watched for and discouraged if necessary.
